DEPARTMENT OF EXAMINATIONS
 
Authorisation Examination required for the Application of Authorisation of a Service Provider for Electrical Installations as per Legal Notice 225
of 2010 – February 2018
 
1.  The Director of Examinations and the Board of Local Public Examinations notify that an examination will be held between Monday, 12th February, 2018 and Thursday, 15th February, 2018, to enable successful candidates to apply to the Regulator for Energy and Water Services for the issue of Authorisations ‘A’ and ‘B’ as stipulated in the Malta Resources Authority Act (Cap. 423) and Legal Notice 225 of 2010.
 
2. The examination will be held in two sections as follows:
 
(a) Authorisation ‘A’ Examination – Single Phase
 
Paper I (Written) Electrical Theory
 
Time allowed:  3 hours
Marks:   100 (Max.), 50 (Min.)
 
Paper II (Written) Electrical Installation Technology 
 
Time allowed:  3 hours  
Marks:   100 (Max.), 50 (Min.)
 
Practical Test (Written) /Interview
(Max. 100 marks – Min. 50 marks)
 
(b) Authorisation ‘B’ Examination – Three Phase
 
Paper I (Written) Electrical Theory
Time allowed:  3 hours
Marks:   100 (Max.), 50 (Min.)
 
Paper II (Written) Electrical Installation Technology 
 
Time allowed:  3 hours 
Marks:   100 (Max.), 50 (Min.)
 
Practical Test (Written) /Interview
(Max. 100 marks – Min. 50 marks)
 
3. To be able to apply for Authorisation ‘A’ or for Authorisation ‘B’, candidates must obtain a pass mark in both Paper I and Paper II. They will also be required to sit for the Practical Test/Interview and obtain a Pass in order to be successful. 
 
4. Candidates who obtained a pass in either Paper I or in Paper II are not required to resit the paper in which they were successful.
 
5. Candidates need to obtain a pass in both Paper I and Paper II as well as in the Practical/Interview within a period of two years from the date of publication of the first result up to the date of publication of the result of the practical test/interview. The period of two years will be extended to include the first session immediately after the lapse of the two years.
6. Application forms may be obtained from the Department of Examinations, the Mall, Triq Sarria, Floriana; the Examinations Centre, Victoria, Gozo, or from the website of the Department of Examinations (www.exams.gov.mt), from Monday, 4th December, 2017.
 
7. Applications will be received at the Department of Examinations, the Mall, Triq Sarria, Floriana, and at the Examinations Centre, Victoria, Gozo, from Monday, 4th December, 2017 to Tuesday, 19th December, 2017, from 8.00 a.m till noon and 1.30 p.m. till 4.00 p.m.
 
8. The application should be accompanied by:
 
a) The candidate’s identity card or other means of official identification;
 
b) A fee of €9.30, payments being accepted only by credit card or by cheque payable to the Director of Examinations.
 
9. Original documents and/or certificates are to be invariably produced for verification when submitting the application form and during the interview.
 
10. Late applications will not be considered.
 
11. A copy of the syllabus of the examination may be obtained from the Department of Examinations, Floriana and from the Examinations Centre, Victoria, Gozo, during office hours or from the Department of Examinations website (www.exams.gov.mt).
 
12. The Board of Local Public Examinations shall have the power to deal summarily with any candidate who while the examination is in progress, is found to be guilty of misconduct or of any breach of the instructions issued for the guidance of candidates.
 
13. The Board of Local Public Examinations reserves the right to annul the examination if any irregularity is detected.  Such annulment may be in respect of the whole examination even if the detected irregularity is in respect of only one paper or a particular stage of the examination.

Call for Aquaculture Project Proposals
Co-financed through the European Maritime
and Fisheries Fund 2014-2020
 
The Maritime and Fisheries Operational Programme for Malta in respect of the current programming period provides funding opportunities to the fishing industry and related coastal communities to help them adapt to ever-changing sectoral conditions whilst fostering their economical resilience and ecological sustainability. The Fund will be of assistance in reaching the objectives of the reformed Common Fisheries Policy and support the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy, as delineated in pertinent Regulation (EU) No. 508/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
 
The Funds and Programmes Division in its remit as Managing Authority of the Maritime and Fisheries Operational Programme is hereby announcing the launch of an open call for project proposals, aimed at aquaculture enterprises for the following measures:

Productive investments in aquaculture

Measure II.3
Productive investments in aquaculture
Resource efficiency, reducing usage of water and chemicals, recirculation systems minimising water use 
 
Deadline for submission of application forms is on Friday, 12th January, 2018.
 
This call (covering both above-mentioned measures) has a total allocation of circa €3.50mn in public eligible funding (European Union and Malta shares). The Managing Authority reserves the right to increase the said allocation. Interested applicants are urged to read through the application form and relative guidance notes.  Conditions may apply.
