The Malta Resources Authority through the Electricity Supply Regulations (Regulations 15 and 16) stipulates that installations that are not carried out by (or under the direction and responsibility of) a person authorised to carry out the particular class of work, shall not be connected to the electricity distribution system. This authorisation is given through the Wireman licence:
