In Ħal Għaxaq, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said attended an educational activity that brought children together with various animals, with the aim of further increasing awareness on animal welfare and the important role animals play in society.
The parliamentary secretary stated that “Love for animals begins during childhood. Through activities like these, we continue to instil values of empathy, respect, and love for animals in future generations." During the event, animal themed books were distributed to the children present for this activity, to strengthen their connection with animals in an educational and fun way. These books were provided by the Office of the Animal Welfare Commissioner.
During the activity, the children also had the opportunity to see various animals, including dogs and horses from the Malta Police Force. This also served as an opportunity for the children to learn more about the role of animals in public service.
The Mayor of Ħal Għaxaq, Karl Boxall, explained how educational initiatives like this lead to future generations with greater awareness of animal welfare.
This activity is proof of how education, the community, and love for animals can leave a positive impact.
