DEPUTY COMMISSIONER JOSEPH CACHIA APPOINTED COMMANDANT OF THE POLICE ACADEMY

Following a restructuring process, which will upgrade the educational experience at the new Police Academy, the Deputy Commissioner Joseph Cachia has been appointed by the Minister for Home Affairs and National Security, Manuel Mallia, as Commandant of the Police Academy.

Joseph Cachia joined the Police Force in 1974 as a constable. In 1977 he was promoted Police Inspector. From 1974 till 1980 he was assigned to District police duties.

From 1980 till 1983 he was posted at the Security Branch in charge of the Airport Security. Following these years he was also posted at the Criminal Investigations Department (General Crime) and was assigned duty also at the Drugs Squad.

On the 24th of June, 1985 he was promoted to Police Superintendent and continued serving the district of Gozo and Mosta.

On the 15th of September 1996, he was promoted to Deputy Commissioner. Joseph Cachia will retire officially as a Deputy Commissioner on the 7th of January.
