Data Protection Commission in Malta
The Data Protection Committee protects the individual's right to privacy by ensuring the correct processing of personal data in Malta.
Within its role, the Commission investigates any complaints about the misuse of data, and enforces the provisions of the Data Protection Act. In cases of violation, the Commissioner may impose administrative fines or institute court proceedings.

Freedom of Information in Malta
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act gives you the right to access documents held by public authorities, including all ministries and departments, subject to certain exceptions. This increases transparency and accountability.
If you would like to request access to a document or information under this Act, you can submit your request via the e-ID on the FOI Portal. Alternatively, a manual request for a Document Form can be downloaded here or collected from any Public Authority. The Form has to be completed and submitted on the email address of the FOI Officer or by post.
