The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a small vessel has sunk in Il-Bajja ta' Marsaxlokk centered on the following position:

Euromed Sailing Championship 2019 – Mellieħa Bay
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that the Malta Young Sailors Club will be holding the Euromed Sailing Championship 2019, between Thursday, 19th December, 2019, and Saturday 21st December, 2019.
The activity will take place in Mellieħa Bay and approaches, in an area delineated by the imaginary lines A to B and B to C as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
Inflatable marker buoys shall be laid between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. daily during the three (3) days of the event.
The race management will be using VHF Channel 72 as a working channel with VHF Channel 71 as a reserve channel. As far as reasonably practicable, local traffic is requested to avoid these channels during the events.
All vessels not involved in the activity are to keep well clear from the competing boats and follow any instructions given by the race officials and support vessels.
Mariners are to note the above and give the area indicated a wide berth. They are further instructed to give the right of way to the participants. Any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF channel 12 and any enforcement agency on site are to be complied with.

Christmas Charity Swim at Il-Bajja ta' San Ġiljan
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that a Christmas charity swim will be held on Sunday, 29th December, 2019. The swim is estimated to commence at 9.30 a.m. and will finish at approximately 12.30 p.m. local time.
The Christmas charity swim will be held in Il-Bajja ta' San Ġiljan. The swimmers will start from off the pier by Independence Garden (point A), swim to an inflatable billboard (point B) and return to point A as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
Support vessels will accompany the participating swimmers.
If the weather conditions are not good for the swim to take place, it will instead be held near the Neptunes waterpolo club on the same date and time. In this case the swimmers will jump from the southern part of the Neptunes waterpolo club (point C) and swim towards the billboard (point D) which will be placed on the rocks near the railings to indicate the exit point.
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate well clear of the area during the stipulated date and time, giving the swimmers a wide berth. They are to comply with any instructions as communicated by the Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12, support vessels and any enforcement agency in the area.

Geotechnical Investigation in the Grand Harbour, Valletta
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that Infrastructure Malta will be carrying out a Geotechnical Investigation in different areas within the Grand Harbour, Valletta. The investigation will commence on Friday, 6th December, 2019, and be completed by Friday, 28th February, 2020.
The work consists of a geotechnical investigation in areas 1, 2, 3 and 4 (as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) and will be carried out from flat barges.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a cable will be laid out between Malta (Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa) and Gozo (Ras il-Ħobż).
The cable will be laid out by the cable laying vessel Teliri along the route from A to B as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt). This laying will start on Friday, 6th December, 2019, and is expected to be completed by Friday, 14th December, 2019.

Santa Swimming Event in Marsamxett Harbour
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that a Santa Swimming event will be held on Sunday, 8th December, 2019. The swimming event is estimated to commence at 10.00 a.m. and will finish at approximately noon local time.
The Santa Swimming event will start from the Grand Hotel Excelsior Marina point A, to Manoel Island point B, then to Ta' Xbiex Waterpolo club point C and finally back to the Grand Hotel Excelsior Marina point A, as shown on chart on Transport Malta (www.transport.gov.mt).
Support vessels will accompany the participating swimmers.

Ground Fireworks Next to Dock 1 – Cospicua
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies that a ground fireworks display in connection with the feast of Our Lady of Conception will be let off from along the edge of Dock 1 in Cospicua as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
The display will be held on Saturday 7th December, 2019, from 11.00 p.m.
All vessels are warned to keep clear and maintain a minimum distance of not less than 50 meters from point A (as shown hatched on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) during the above-mentioned display.
Vessels moored within 50 metres from point A (as shown hatched on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) are to be removed and the area kept clear during the displays. The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, will accept no liabilities whatsoever for any vessels that are left lying in the area on the abovementioned date and times.
Mariners are to obey instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF channel 12 and any enforcement agency.

The survey will be carried out by the vessel WILFRED along the imaginary line from A to B as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt). The survey will start on Sunday, 24th November, 2019, working only during daylight.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners and operators of vessels that filming will be carried out at Ix-Xatt l-Aħmar and Il-Bajja tal-Qbajjar in Gozo.
The filming will be carried out at:
Ix-Xatt l-Aħmar between Monday, 25th November, 2019, and Monday, 2nd December, 2019 from 6.00 a.m. till 8.30 p.m. on each day.
Il-Bajja tal-Qbajjar on Monday, 25th November, 2019, and Monday, 2nd December, 2019, from 6.00 a.m. till 7.00 p.m. on each day.
Due to the above filming the area at Ix-Xatt l-Aħmar (as shown hatched on chart A found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) and the area at Il-Bajja tal-Qbajjar (as shown hatched on chart B on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) are to be kept clear from any vessels during the above mentioned dates and times during the filming.

Survey in Various Areas in Malta and Gozo in Connection with Medkey Habitat Campaign
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that in connection with the Medkey Habitat campaign, surveys will be carried out in various parts in Malta and Gozo.
The vessel SIMO will be used to operate the various types of surveys which include the use of single/multibeam echo sounder, side scan sonar, grab (for sampling), a towed camera/ROV and scuba divers. This survey will start with immediate effect and is expected to be completed by Friday 15th January, 2020.

OTILLO - Swimrun World Series 2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that the OTILLO Swimrun World Series 2019 will be held between Saturday, 23rd and Sunday, 24th November, 2019. There will be safety boats in each individual swim at all times.
On Saturday, 23rd November, 2019, the Spirit Malta and the Experience Malta races will be held, starting and finishing at Il-Bajja tal-Mixquqa (Golden Sands). There will be approximately 200 participants.
The swimming part of these races will follow the route (as shown on chart 1 found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) and will be as follows:

Infrastructure Malta seabed sampling in the Grand Harbour, Valletta
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that Infrastructure Malta will be carrying out seabed sampling in different areas within the Grand Harbour, Valletta. The sampling is to start on Monday, 11th November, 2019, and be completed by Friday, 22nd November, 2019.
The work consists of sediment collection using the vessels Sea Wolf II (flat barge) and Beezer (workboat) which will be carrying out the sampling with the use of a grab and coring equipment.
The sampling will be carried out within the areas A, B, C, D and E (as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)). The works will be coordinated by the Traffic Management Unit (TMU) and the contractor. Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) will be transmitting information on a day to day basis regarding the working areas.
Masters and operators of vessels are to seek information from Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) about operating restrictions from Transport Malta and also coordinate with the contractors on site in the locations indicated above.
They are also advised to keep a sharp lookout, navigate with caution and slow speed and give the indicated areas a wide berth. They are to comply with any instructions given by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12 and any enforcement agency on site.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies all mariners and sea vessel operators that filming activities will take place at Marsaxlokk Port and Għar Lapsi.
Filming will start on Wednesday, 2nd October, 2019, and should be completed by Friday, 8th November, 2019.
Filming will be carried out from the following locations as shown on charts found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) and also while transiting between the same locations:
Chart 1 – Marsaxlokk (Sunday market area)

Local Notice to Mariners No. 131 of 2019
Long Term Maintenance Repairs
Marsaxlokk Harbour – Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that long term maintenance repairs on the quay cranes on both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 North Quay are now in progress.
Each crane being repaired will be boomed in the 45 degrees angle for around 10 to 15 days. The first cranes are intended to be repaired on bollard 33, thus extra caution is needed during berthing and departing of vessels.
In view of the above works, mariners are to get authorisation from Malta Freeport Terminals Ltd before making any use of this quay and to give the above area a wide berth. Masters navigating in the vicinity are to keep a sharp lookout, proceed with caution and very slow speed. Vessels are to comply with instructions as issued by Marsaxlokk VTS (Marsaxlokk Port Control) on VHF Channel 14.

Quay in Id-Daħla ta' Rinella, The Grand Harbour – Keep Clear
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners and operators of vessels that the quay at Id-Daħla ta' Rinella in The Grand Harbour will be used as an operational base for the filming of 'L'Incredibile Storia Dell'Isola Delle Rose'.
Due to the above the quay is to be kept clear on Tuesday, 8th October, 2019, from 6.30 a.m. till 8.00 p.m.
Mariners are to take note of the above and not to leave any vessel berthed to the quay.
Any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF channel 12 are to be complied with.

Filming – L'Incredibile Storia Dell'Isola delle Rose
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies all mariners and sea vessel operators that filming activities will take place outside The Grand Harbour off Kalkara and at Il-Bajja tal-Mellieħa.
Filming will be carried out outside The Grand Harbour off Kalkara on Tuesday, 8th October, 2019, from 7.00 a.m. till 7.00 p.m.
Filming will also be carried out within the area A, B, C and D (as shown hatched in red on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)), on Tuesday, 14th October, 2019, from 6.30 a.m. till 8.00 p.m.
A clear horizon is requested within the angle between the lines D to E and C to F. Any vessels that are moored within the area C, D, E and F (as shown hatched in blue on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)), are to be removed during the date and time listed above.
In case of bad weather conditions on any of the above mentioned dates the filming will be carried out at Paradise Bay on the same dates and times.
Mariners are requested to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed, in the vicinity of the above areas. They are to cooperate with the organisers and any maritime enforcement agency in the area. Moreover they are to obey any instructions given by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12.

Live firing practice exercise at Sea – Gunex 02/2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that the Armed Forces of Malta shall conduct live firing practice exercises at sea off Pembroke Ranges and in the south of Malta between Monday, 14th October, 2019 and Wednesday, 16th October, 2019; with Thursday, 17th October, 2019, and Friday, 18th October, 2019, scheduled as reserve dates.
The firing exercise will take place between 7.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. local time, (5.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m. UTC) on the above mentioned dates.
The exercise will take place within the areas as mentioned below.

Roberts Cup – Como to Malta Seaplane Rally – 2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that the Malta Seaplanes Association in collaboration with Aero Club Como will be organising the Roberts Cup – Como to Malta Seaplanes Rally between Friday, 4th October, 2019 and Sunday, 6th October, 2019. Part of the rally will be held in the Grand Harbour.
The flying displays over the Grand Harbour will be held as follows:
On Friday, 4th October, 2019, from 4.00 p.m. till 5.00 p.m.
On Saturday, 5th October, 2019, from 10.00 a.m. till 1.00 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. till 5.00 p.m.
On Sunday, 6th October, 2019, from 10.00 a.m. till 1.00 p.m. and from 3.00 p.m. till 5.00 p.m.
All timings are in local time.
The displays will consist mainly of landing and take-off maneuvers and will be held within the area A, B, C and D, as shown hatched in magenta on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt). Mariners are hereby informed that during the dates and times mentioned above traffic movements may be restricted.
Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) will be managing the movement of vessels, on VHF Channel 12.
Mariners are to navigate with caution and to keep a sharp lookout when in the vicinity to the above-mentioned area. They are to obey any instructions that are issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12, and Maritime Enforcement vessels in the area.

Spear fishing Competition
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that Malta Skin Divers Club will be organising a spear fishing competition which will be held on two days, Saturday, 5th October, 2019 and Sunday, 13th October, 2019, starting at 8.30 a.m. and finishing at 2.30 p.m. on both days.
The competition will take place in either of the following three areas depending on the wind direction:
Area A – West of Malta as shown on Chart A found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt),
Area B – North-West of Malta as shown on Chart B found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt),
Area C – South-East of Malta as shown on Chart C found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
If due to adverse weather conditions the competition cannot be held on the above mentioned day it will be held on Saturday, 19th October, 2019 and on Saturday, 26th October, 2019 at the same time.
The competitors will be assisted by support vessels and there will be safety vessels also within the area.
Mariners are advised to keep a sharp lookout and navigate at slow speed (no wake), they are also keep well clear of the area where the activity is being held during the stipulated time giving the competitors and support vessels a wide berth. They are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12 or Marsaxlokk Port Control (Marsaxlokk VTS) on VHF Channel 14 and any maritime enforcement assets in the area.

Filming between the Southern Part of Gozo and the Northern Part of Malta – Sea of Time – October 2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies all mariners and sea vessel operators that filming activities will take place between the southern part of Gozo and the northern part of Malta.
Filming will start on Monday, 30th September, 2019 and should be completed by Thursday, 17th October, 2019, from 7.00 a.m. till 7.00 p.m. everyday.
Filming will be carried out from the following locations (as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) and also while transiting between the same locations:
Point A – Ras in-Niexfa
Point B – Il-Bajja taċ-Ċirkewwa
Point C – Ras in-Newwiela
Point D – Il-Port tal-Imġarr
Point E – Ras il-Qala
Point F – Daħlet ix-Xilep
Point G – Il-Bajja tal-Mellieħa
A clear horizon is requested from where filming is being carried out at the time, during the dates and times listed above.
The vessels Abbot, Mahana and MV Grecale will be used during the filming and are to be given a wide berth when spotted.

Birżebbuġa Regatta – 2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that the Birżebbuġa Local Council will be organising regatta races in Birżebbuġa, Marsaxlokk Harbour.
The regatta races will be held on Sunday, 29th September, 2019, from 1.00 p.m. till 7.00 p.m., and will take place within the area A, B, C and D as shown hatched on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
Any vessels which are within the designated area are to be removed.
No vessels will be allowed to cross the race course during the races.
Races will be held when no merchant traffic is scheduled to enter or depart from the Malta Freeport terminals.
Mariners are requested to keep a sharp look out and navigating at slow speed (no wake), in the vicinity of the above area. They are to cooperate with the organizers and any maritime enforcement assets in the area. Rolex Middle Sea Race 2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that the Royal Malta Yacht Club will be holding the Rolex Middle Sea Race on Saturday, 19th October, 2019. In addition a coastal race will also be held on Wednesday, 16th October, 2019.
The race programme is as follows:
a) Wednesday, 16th October, 2019
The coastal race starts at 10.00 a.m.
The start is from Marsamxett Harbour, at an imaginary line from the tower of Il-Fortizza ta' Tignè to the corner of the bastion on the western side of Il-Fossa in Valletta. When they exit Marsamxett Harbour they will proceed, depending on the weather conditions, either to Comino and/or Gozo or to Munxar and/or Filfa and finish at Marsamxett Harbour.
Mariners are requested to keep the Marsamxett fairway clear during the start of the coastal race and to keep a sharp lookout during the remaining hours of Wednesday, 16th October, 2019.
b) Saturday, 19th October, 2019
The Rolex Middle Sea Race starts at approximately 11.00 a.m.
The start is from Grand Harbour, at an imaginary line from an inflatable buoy near Saint Angelo Point to the Valletta Saluting Battery mast.
The yachts shall then proceed in a North Easterly direction along the Channel in Grand Harbour to an inflatable buoy, bearing the sponsor's logo, positioned outside the Saint Elmo Breakwater. The buoy shown as 1 on the chart that can be found on Transport Malta's website (www.transport.gov.mt) will be in the following approximate position:

The yachts shall then proceed in a North Westerly direction towards St George's shoals where a second inflatable buoy bearing the sponsor's logo will be positioned. The yachts shall than proceed in a North North Easterly direction towards Sicily.
Mariners are to navigate with caution and to keep a sharp lookout when in the vicinity of the above-mentioned courses and positions and, when sighted, give the participants a wide berth.
They are also to keep at least 200m away from the inflatable buoys 1 and 2 mentioned above.
Mariners are advised that on Saturday, 19th October, 2019, between 9.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. or such time as may be communicated by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12, if earlier, the Grand Harbour shall be closed for all traffic not directly related to the race.
During these times all other vessels shall be required to remain within designated areas in the inner harbour up to Ras Ħanżir, in Dockyard Creek, Kalkara Creek and Rinella Bay. (Areas are shown hatched in magenta on Chart 2).
No vessel will be allowed at the quay next to the fish market as this quay is being reserved for emergency vessels only.
Mariners are instructed to cooperate with the organizers and maritime enforcement officers in the area. Moreover they are to obey any instructions given by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12.

This activity will be held on Saturday, 28th September, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 2.00 p.m.

Malta – Comino – Malta Swimming Event
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a Malta – Comino – Malta swimming event will be held on Saturday, 28th September, 2019.
Participants will depart from Ir-Ramla tal-Armier point A, at approximately 9.00 a.m. They will swim to point B, C and then point D back in Ir-Ramla tal-Armier (as shown on chart 1 found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)).
The swim is to be completed by noon.
If the event cannot be held as stated above due to bad weather conditions it will be held on the same date and time at either Il-Bajja tal-Mellieħa (as shown on chart 2 found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) or at Ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa (as shown on chart 3 found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) depending on wind direction.
Support vessels will accompany the participating swimmers.

The filming includes the use of pyrotechnics (parachute bright white flares) and will be taking place between Tuesday, 1st October, 2019 at 6.00 p.m. and Wednesday, 2nd October, 2019 at 4.00 a.m.

Repair of Damaged Jetty at Marsaxlokk
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners and the general public that repair works will be carried out on the jetty at Xatt is-Sajjieda, Marsaxlokk.
The works will start on Monday, 15th September, 2019, within the area shown hatched on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
A diver may be involved in the works.
Owners of vessels that are moored or have a mooring within the area of 10 meters from the jetty, are to remove such moorings and associated ground tackle with an immediate effect and not later than Sunday, 15th September, 2019.
Any vessels and moorings that are left in this area will be removed at the expense of the owner. No liability whatsoever will be accepted by the Authority for any damage that may be caused while removing the said vessels and moorings.
A silt curtain will be laid within the 10 meters area shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
The jetty cannot be used. Masters and vessel operators are instructed to navigate at very slow speed that no wake must be done. And keep a sharp lookout at all times.
All vessel operators are to comply with any instructions as given by Marsaxlokk VTS on VHF Channel 14.

On Sunday, 8th September, 2019 from 8.00 a.m. till 8.15 a.m., from noon till 12.15 p.m. and from 7.00 p.m. till 11.15 p.m.
The barges will be moored in position on Wednesday, 4th September, 2019, and will be removed on Monday, 9th September, 2019. They will be left in position during the night and will be lit. A wide berth of 200 meters is requested from the barges on these days as the barges will be loaded with fireworks.
Owners on vessels moored in Rinella Bay are to remove their vessels from Wednesday, 4th September, 2019 to Monday, 9th September, 2019.
Transport Malta will accept no Liabilities whatsoever for any damage caused to vessels that are left within Rinella Bay and vessels within the 200m safety zone from the barges in the mentioned dates.
Mariners are to navigate with caution and slow speed. They are to obey any instructions and directions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF channel 12 and any enforcement agency.

Weather permitting the raft will be built and moored at ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa, Golden Bay within the area shown hatched on the chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
This activity will be held on Monday, 2nd September, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m.
All vessels navigating within the bay are requested to keep a sharp lookout, navigate with caution and at slow speed (no wake), and give the raft a wide berth.

4. The sinkers and marker buoys mentioned in 1 above will then be removed on Monday, 9th September, 2019.
Masters of all vessels are notified that on Sunday, 8th September, 2019, between 9.00 a.m. and about 7.30 p.m., incoming vessels will not be allowed to proceed to any berth South West of the imaginary line joining point (A) on Barriera Wharf and Forti Sant' Anġlu Flagstaff. Vessels in "Il-Marsa" sea area will not be allowed to proceed beyond the starting line indicated in 2(iv) above after 9.00 a.m. No vessel will be allowed near the finishing line except those involved in the races. No movements of vessels will be allowed inside the Grand Harbour, except by special permission. All vessels are to keep a minimum distance of 5m away from the lines and floats mentioned in 2(ii), 2(iii) and 2(iv).
Incoming vessels will not be allowed to proceed to any berth South-West of the imaginary line which is 150m north-East of the finish line (A) to (B) mention in 2(i) above. No vessel will be allowed to stay within this 150m area.
Masters of all vessels are also warned that the wire ropes and floats may cause a physical obstruction and consequently they are to navigate with extreme caution. Caution is also to be exercised when in the vicinity of such wire ropes and floats when these are being laid or removed.
Mariners are to obey any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12 and enforcement personnel in the area.

The repair works are scheduled to start on Sunday, 25th August, 2019 and should be completed by Wednesday, 28th August, 2019, weather permitting.

The filming will take place on Friday, 23rd August, 2019, and Saturday, 24th August, 2019.
The filming involves the use of the vessel UTEC Surveyor as a prop and she will be towed by the tug boats Sea Wolf and Sea Jaguar whenever it has to be moved.
On Friday, 23rd August, 2019:
6.00 a.m. UTEC Surveyor will be towed from Cassar Shipyard to be moored at Boiler Wharf.
9.00 a.m. UTEC Surveyor towed from Boiler Wharf to outside Marsamxett Harbour where filming onboard the vessel will commence.
In the afternoon the UTEC Surveyor will be towed again to Boiler Wharf where filming will take place from arrival to midnight.

A group of participants will depart from Ir-Ramla tal-Bir (Malta), point A on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt), at approximately 6.30 a.m. They will swim to the east of Comino and then to Ġebel tal-Ħalfa (Gozo), point B on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) and back to Ir-Ramla tal-Bir (Malta) point A.
Another group of participants will depart from Il-Bajja ta' Ħondoq ir-Rummien (Gozo), point C on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt), at approximately 8.15 a.m. They will also swim to the east of Comino and finish at Ir-Ramla tal-Bir (Malta), point A on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).

Pageant of the Seas – 2020 (Technical Trial 28-08-2019)
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a technical trial involving sailing boats in connection with the Valletta Pageant of the Seas – 2020 event will be held in the Grand Harbour on Wednesday, 28th August, 2019.
The technical trial will be carried out within the area enclosed by the imaginary lines joining the points A, B, C and D.
Mariners are informed that due to the above technical trial, part of the Grand Harbour, Valletta, will be restricted to all vessels from 9.00 p.m. until midnight local time, except to pre-notified vessels and those vessels with prior authorisation.
The restricted area is delineated by the imaginary lines joining the points T - U, V - W, X – Y and Y - Z and the intermediate coastline

Correction to Local Notice to Mariners No. 97 of 2019 re-Fireworks Display – Feast of Stella Maris from Manoel Island and The Strand
Reference is made to Local Notice to Mariners No. 97 of 2019 regarding Fireworks Display – Feast of Stella Maris from Manoel Island and The Strand.
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, informs mariners and owners of vessels that there has been some change in the times the display from Manoel Island will be let off. The correct times are the following:
On Monday, 12th August, 2019, from 7.15 p.m. till 7.45 p.m.
On Friday, 16th August, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 9.10 a.m., from noon till 12.10 p.m. and from 10.15 p.m. till 11.00 p.m.
On Saturday, 17th August, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 9.30 a.m., from noon till 12.20 p.m. and from 6.00 p.m. till 11.30 p.m.
On Sunday, 18th August, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 9.10 a.m., from noon till 12.10 p.m. and from 7.30 p.m. till 11.00 p.m.
All other information in Local Notice to Mariners No. 97 of 2019 will remain valid.

Fireworks Display – Feast of Stella Maris from Manoel Island and The Strand
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that fireworks will be let off from the foreshore of Manoel Island in Sliema Creek, centred on point A as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt):

The fireworks displays will take place on the following dates and times:
On Monday, 12th August, 2019, from 6.30 p.m. till 8.00 p.m.
On Friday, 16th August, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 9.15 a.m., from noon till 12.10 p.m. and from 9.00 p.m. till 11.00 p.m.
On Saturday, 17th August, 2019 from 9.00 a.m. till 9.15 a.m., from noon till 12.15 p.m., from 6.00 p.m. till 7.00 p.m. and from 9.30 p.m. till 11.30 p.m.
On Sunday, 18th August, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 9.15 a.m., from noon till 12.15 p.m. and from 7.00 p.m. till 11.00 p.m.
In view of the above, mariners are informed that navigation within 220 meters from the above mentioned position, point A on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt), in Marsamxett Harbour will be prohibited during the dates and times of the fireworks displays as mentioned above. All craft moored within the indicated area (as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) are to be removed on the above-mentioned dates and times of the fireworks displays.
Further to the above, a ground fireworks display will be held at The Strand, Tas-Sliema between Saturday, 17th August, 2019, at 11.00 p.m., and Sunday, 18th August, 2019, at 00.30 a.m. The ground fireworks display will be let off from point B, as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).
In view of the above, mariners are informed that navigation within 150 meters from the above mentioned position, point B on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt), in Marsamxett Harbour will be prohibited during the date and times of the ground fireworks display as mentioned above. All craft moored within the indicated area (as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt)) are to be removed on the above-mentioned dates and times of the ground fireworks displays.

The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta notifies mariners that aerial fireworks will be let off from Il-Ponta ta’ Sant’Iermu (point A as shown on chart found on Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) on the dates and times as follows:
On Friday, 2nd August, 2019, from 8.00 a.m. till 8.15 a.m., from noon till 12.15 p.m. and from 7.00 p.m. till 7.15 p.m.
On Saturday, 3rd August, 2019, from 9.00 a.m. till 9.15 a.m. and from noon till 12.15 p.m.
On Sunday, 4th August, 2019, from 8.00 a.m. till 8.15 a.m., from noon till 12.15 p.m., from 7.15 p.m. till 8.00 p.m. and from 9.00 p.m. till 11.00 p.m.
Vessels moored within 200 metres from point A are to be removed and the area kept clear during the displays. The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta will accept no liabilities whatsoever for any vessels that are left lying in the area on the above mentioned date and times.
Instructions and directions given by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF channel 12 and any Enforcement Agency are to be complied with.
Local Notice to Mariners No. 96 of 2019
Filming from Rinella – Malta Film Studios – Clear Horizon – 5th to 10th August, 2019
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners and operators of vessels that filming activities will take place in Rinella – Malta Film Studios.
The filming will take place from Monday, 5th August, 2019, to Saturday, 10th August, 2019.
In view of the above a clear horizon is required for filming purposes.
Mariners navigating in the indicated area on the mentioned dates are requested to keep watch on VHF Channel 12 and cooperate with the crew and enforcement personnel in the area.
Any instructions issued by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF channel 12 are to be complied with.
