It is hereby being notified that an application for the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) as defined by EU Regulation no. 2024/1143 on Geographical Indications for wine, spirit drinks and agricultural products, as well as Traditional Specialities Guaranteed and optional quality terms for agricultural products was submitted by the Food Safety and Security Authority (FSSA). The relevant details of the dossier and further information is given below:
Applicant: Għaqda Trobbija tan-Naħal u Produtturi tal-Għasel Malti
Terms (in italics) which are the subject of the application: Għasel Malti for PDO status in the Category 04 ‒ Natural Honey (0409)
Brief description of the product to which the terms above apply:
The product name: Għasel Malti is a honey, produced in the Maltese archipelago (in the main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino). Għasel Malti is honey made from flora located in the Maltese Islands by bees of the species Apis mellifera.
The blending of Għasel Malti with any other honey not produced to these specifications as given hereunder is not permitted. Għasel Malti not produced and processed in the Maltese archipelago is not permitted.
Based on the different areas of vegetation the following types of honey have been defined:
single-flower eucalyptus honey (Eucalyptus spp.),
single-flower carob honey (Ceratonia siliqua),
single-flower thyme honey (Thymbra capitata),
multifloral honey (spring floral),
multifloral honey (one-time harvest) (all-seasons floral).
Consultation
The Food Safety and Security Authority is publishing the said application for consultation for a period of two months (as stipulated in Regulation 7.3 of the Geographical Indications and Designations Regulations of 2004 (S.L. 427.52)) from the date of this publication after which, if there are no comments, objections or representations forwarded to the Authority, transitional national protection may be placed on the term(s), until the dossier is submitted to the European Commission and assessed by the European Commission and Member States of the European Union.
Any interested party may object or give any feedback regarding the application in writing by means of a formal letter addressed to the Head of the Policy and Licensing Division, within the Food Safety and Security Authority, stating also the nature of their interest, within two months from the date of this notice. Any objections received after the end of the said period of two months will not be considered.

Terms (in italics) which are the subject of the application: Zalzett tal-Malti for Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status in the Category 16 – (1601) Sausages
Brief description of the product to which the above terms apply:
The product name: Zalzett tal-Malti is a traditional sausage made primarily, but not exclusively, from pork sourced from the Maltese archipelago (the main islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino) and other minor ingredients: coriander, black pepper or black pepper corns, sea salt, and parsley. Although the pork is to be sourced from pigs raised and slaughtered within the specified geographical area, imported pork may be used when demand outstrips supply.

Suspension of Parking
The Rabat Local Council notifies that in terms of Legal Notice 101/97, the streets listed hereunder will be closed and are to be classified as 'Tow Zones'.

ELECTORAL COMMISSION
The Electoral Commission notifies the issue of a Call for Quotations (CfQ) for the hiring of emergency lights. The CfQ may be downloaded from the publications section of the Electoral Commission's website (www.electoral.gov.mt).
The information and material requested in the CfQ must reach the Electoral Commission by hand in a sealed envelope and deposited in a sealed box at the Electoral Office, Counting Hall Complex, Ex-Trade Fair Grounds, Naxxar, by not later than Monday, 11th May, 2026, at noon (Central European Time).
