Malta's Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Malta to UNESCO Dr Ray Bondin has been awarded Honorary Citizenship of the City of Noto in recognition of his commitment to the preservation of cultural heritage. The award was granted after a special session of the Municipal Council which unanimously approved the award. The award was given during a two day seminar to commemorate the granting of UNESCO World Heritage status to Noto and seven other cities. This is the fourth Sicilian city to have awarded him Honorary Citizenship after Palazzolo Acreide, Militello in Val di Catania and Ragusa.
The award was given by the Mayor of Noto, Corrado Bonfanti in the presence of many Sicilian dignitaries.
