THE AMBASSADOR OF THE REPUBLIC OF GAMBIA PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO MR SPEAKER

The Ambassador of the Republic of Gambia, Lang Yabou, has this morning paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malta, Dr Anġlu Farrugia.

The two dignitaries referred to the diplomatic relations between Malta and Gambia, which were established on 21st October 1976. They noted that, although almost 30 years had passed and these relations were quite good, there was ample room to enhance co-operation for mutual benefit.

They discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly co-operation at Parliamentary level on the issue of irregular migration by Gambian nationals. They also referred to the educational opportunities which Malta could offer to Gambian students through IMLI and MEDAC.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Awa Colley, Finance Attaché at the Embassy of Gambia in Spain.
