This morning, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Dr Anġlu Farrugia, has received a courtesy visit from Mr Ricardo Neiva Tavares, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil, who is based in Rome.
The two dignitaries recalled the warm relations that exist between Malta and Brazil since diplomatic relations were established almost 41 years ago, namely on 23rd June 1975. Mention was also made to the Maltese missionaries serving in Brazil.
They referred to the current political situation in Brazil, following the impeachment of the Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.
Reference was also made to Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2017, when the EU-CELAC Summit will be taking place.
