Dr Anġlu Farrugia, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Parliament of Malta, has today received a courtesy visit from Mr Awwad Khalid Eid Alserhan, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
The two dignitaries recalled the excellent bilateral relations between Malta and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which diplomatic relations were established on 4th June 1974, almost 42 years ago.
They referred to the visit to Jordan by the Prime Minister, who was accompanied by a Ministerial and business delegation, as well as to that of the President early this month.
They discussed issues of mutual interest, including co-operation in the field of tourism and at parliamentary level.
The situation of Palestinian and Syrian refugees as well as Malta’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2017 were mentioned.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Tala Shubailat, Executive Director of the European Commission-League of Arab States Liaison Office (ECLASLO).
