Speaker Anġlu Farrugia received a courtesy visit from the new Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic, Mira Daher Violides.
Speaker Farrugia said that diplomatic relations between Malta and Lebanon were established on 1st July 1975, which relations have been very cordial ever since.
Speaker Farrugia and Ambassador Daher Violides spoke about the present situation in Lebanon, including the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis. They also discussed the problem of migration, Palestinian refugees, and terrorism.
Parliamentary cooperation also featured in the talks, with particular reference to the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group.
