PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND CO-ORDINATION OF THE POST-COVID-19 STRATEGY: Winners of the Horizon 2020 Malta Awards announced


​Minister for Research, Innovation and Co-ordination of the Post-COVID-19 strategy Owen Bonnici announced the Horizon 2020 Malta Awards to various researchers and innovators who successfully participated in various research and innovation projects within the Horizon 2020 European Union funding framework programme which has just been replaced by the new Horizon Europe.
 
Accompanied by MCST Chairperson Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando, Minister Bonnici distributed awards according to the various categories: for the best promotion of STEM, for the best innovative SME, for the Best Impact on Health, Security or Smart Mobility, for the most impactful project in the field of marine sciences (blue award), for the best Green project (Green Award), for the Best Technological Innovation and for the most active researcher.
 
The winners are BrianTrip, AcrossLimits in two categories for the Bio2Excel project and for the ERA4STEM project, Naval Architecture Services for the project Venture, Epsilon Malta for the project SIM4Nexus, AcquaBioTech Limited for the iFISHIENCI project and Georgios N Yannakakis for his successful and active contribution within the programme.
 
Yesterday, Malta marked the launching of the new framework programme for EU-funding in the field of Research and Innovation – Horizon Europe which is placing the total sum of €95.5 billion in the largest R&I funding program in the history of the EU and the largest one today in the world.
