In accordance with the Food Safety Act and Regulation (EC) No. 178 of 2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health informs the public that, following information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, the said product must not be consumed due to excessive levels of iodine.
Iodine is a micronutrient essential for the production of thyroid hormones. Whilst the consumption of food with low levels of iodine is important in one's diet, excessive consumption may lead to severe problems of the thyroid gland.
