In accordance with the Food Safety Act and Regulation (EC) No. 178 of 2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to inform the public that following information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed said product must not be consumed since it contains high levels of 3-MCPD.
3-MCPD are a group of contaminants which form during the processing of edible oils. In elevated levels, these can have an adverse effect on the human reproductive system and can also be carcinogenic.
