In accordance with the Food Safety Act and Regulation (EC) No. 178 of 2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to inform the public that following information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, the below mentioned product must not be consumed since it contains excessive levels of Tropane Alkaloids (Atropine and Scopolamine).
Tropane alkaloids are a group of chemical compounds which are responsible for the natural toxic effects of certain plants. The consumption of an excessive amount of these chemicals may have a toxic effect on humans and animals.
