In accordance with the Food Safety Act and Regulation (EC) No. 178 of 2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Food Safety and Security Authority wishes to inform the public that following information received through the Rapid Alert for Food and Feed, the below mentioned product must not be consumed in view of increased glycerol content (E 422) in fruit flavour drinks with sweetener.
Glycerol is commonly used as a food additive, but at high levels it can be harmful. Excessive intake may cause adverse health effects, especially in children, but also in adults.
