In accordance with Chapter 649 of the Food Safety and Security Act, and in line with the Authority's role to ensure transparency and public awareness on matters relating to food safety and security, the Authority hereby informs the public of the following information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). The product must not be consumed since they contain excessive levels of Tropane Alkaloids (Atropine and Scopolamine).
Tropane alkaloids are a group of chemical compounds which are responsible for the natural toxic effects of certain plants. The consumption of an excessive amount of these chemicals may have a toxic effect on humans and animals.
