In accordance with Chapter 649 of the Food Safety and Security Act, and in line with the Authority's role to ensure transparency and public awareness on matters relating to food safety and security, the Authority hereby informs the public of the following information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF). The product must not be consumed due to elevated levels of anthraquinone, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and benzo(a)pyrene.
Anthraquinone is a pesticide used for protection against insects. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), including benzo(a)pyrene, are environmental contaminants. The three contaminants are known for their carcinogenic properties.
