The Ministry for Education and Sport announces the appointment of two new Chief Executive Officers who will lead key entities within the Ministry.
Matthew Costa appointed Chief Executive Officer of the NDSF
Matthew Costa has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Development and Social Fund (NDSF). He has built a long career in the public sector, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer of the Water Services Corporation and Executive Director of Clearflowplus PLC. Throughout his career, he has led innovative financial initiatives, including Malta's first Green Bond, while strengthening financial governance and overseeing investment programmes worth millions of euros.
Matthew studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science and the University of Malta, where he obtained both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
The Ministry also expresses its gratitude to Raymond Ellul for his service and contribution in leading the NDSF throughout his tenure, as he will be retiring upon reaching retirement age.
Aleander Balzan appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools
Aleander Balzan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for Tomorrow's Schools. He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management and Public Policy from the University of Malta, as well as qualifications in European Studies and Communication. Throughout his career, he has served as a Policy Advisor within the Office of the Prime Minister, headed the Secretariat of the Ministry for Home Affairs and Security, and held various roles in strategy, communications and project management.
The Ministry also expresses its gratitude to Neville Young for his work and dedication throughout the years he led the Foundation.
Minister for Education and Sport Byron Camilleri congratulated the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers every success in their respective roles and expressed his confidence that their experience, skills and vision will continue to strengthen their respective entities and contribute to the delivery of the Government’s priorities in the areas of education and national development.
