PRESS REALEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRINCIPAL PERMANENT SECRETARY Establishment of the Artificial Intelligence Governance Council

Artificial Intelligence is creating new opportunities to improve how public services are designed and delivered, enabling Government to work more effectively and provide greater value to citizens. To ensure that its adoption across the Public Administration is coordinated, responsible and focused on tangible public value, Government is establishing the Artificial Intelligence Governance Council.

Chaired by the Chief AI Officer and supported by the Artificial Intelligence Governance Unit, the Council will provide central strategic oversight of Government's AI initiatives. It will bring together key stakeholders from across Government to promote a coherent approach, support compliance with the EU AI Act and help reduce fragmented or duplicative efforts.

All communications relating to AI governance, policy, projects and other related queries should be directed to [email protected].
