Clearflowplus p.l.c. was set up in 2023 to finance investment in Malta’s water and wastewater sector through Malta’s first Green Bonds. 3-years on, the company continues to deliver solid financial results on its promises to drive investments in such projects funded through these Bonds, with the company recording a €363,000 profit in the first six months of 2026 and revenue rising to €1.78 million. This is a clear example of real projects and investments yielding tangible results.
Over the past year, the Water Services Corporation (WSC) completed eight (8) major water infrastructure projects across Malta and Gozo, funded through the Green Bonds. These projects have upgraded and modernised the water distribution network, making the system more efficient and reducing water losses. This work forms part of the Government's ongoing commitment to a stronger, more reliable water supply for the years ahead.
The Green Bonds issue, worth €25 million in total, has now disbursed almost €17.8 million, equating to 71% of the total amount, to fund these projects. The company also continues to meet its obligations to bondholders, making an interest payment of just over €1 million on 25 August 2026.
Minister for Energy, the Environment and the Regeneration of the Grand Harbour Miriam Dalli reaffirmed Government’s commitment to supporting green investment in the water sector, ensuring that Malta's water infrastructure keeps pace with the needs of residents and businesses while protecting the environment.
Karl Cilia, Chairman of Clearflowplus stated, “These results show that green investment in Malta's water infrastructure is delivering real, measurable progress on the ground. We remain committed to using the Green Bonds responsibly, and to giving the public a clear view of how every euro is being put to work."
For the first time in Malta, the public can now follow the progress of these works in real time through an online project tracker, launched by Clearflowplus. The tracker shows the live status of each project funded by the Green Bonds. This gives residents direct visibility into how investments are being spent, and how work is progressing tangibly on the ground. The tracker is available at www.clearflowplus.com/bi.
