The Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection, Keith Azzopardi Tanti, announced details regarding the 2026 edition of Premju Nazzjonali Ħaddiema tas-Sena, which will be held on Friday, 27 November at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, under the patronage of the President of Malta, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono.
Over the years, this initiative has continued to grow in importance and has established itself as a national event recognising the hard work, dedication and contribution of Maltese and Gozitan workers.
This year, the Award will feature 12 categories, including two new categories dedicated to organisations and workers who have contributed to improved productivity through digitalisation. These new categories reflect the changing realities of today’s world of work and the growing importance of innovation and technology.
During his address, Minister Keith Azzopardi Tanti said that “The Award offers an important opportunity for the country to pause, reflect and recognise those who contribute to the workplace on a daily basis. Behind every economic success, every service delivered and every organisation that makes a difference, there are workers, teams, leaders and entrepreneurs who contribute every day to the development of the country. A strong labour market is not measured only by the number of jobs created or by economic results, but also by the quality of workplaces, the respect shown towards workers and the opportunities we create for every individual to give their best.”
Minister Azzopardi Tanti concluded that the Premju Nazzjonali Ħaddiema tas-Sena is therefore more than an awards ceremony, as it serves as an opportunity to show appreciation and thank those who carry out their work with dedication and commitment.
Chairperson of the Board, Angela Agius, said that the Award has continued to grow in relevance while embracing the different realities present within today’s labour market. She encouraged the public to nominate workers who, through their efforts and commitment, have made a tangible difference in their workplace.
Nominations are open until Saturday, 31 October, and members of the public are invited to nominate individuals whom they believe deserve recognition during this year’s ceremony through premjuhaddiem.gov.mt. Following the closing of nominations, an independent selection board will assess the nominations and select the winners in each category, who will be announced during the ceremony.
