In accordance with Chapter 649 of the Food Safety and Security Authority Act, and in line with the Authority's role to ensure transparency and public awareness on matters relating to food safety and security, the Authority hereby informs the public that the following analysis of samples elevated during official controls by the Food Safety and Security Authority. The following product must not be consumed since it may potentially be contaminated with Salmonella.
People infected with Salmonella usually develop symptoms 12 to 36 hours after infection, although the incubation period can range from 6 to 72 hours. The main symptoms include diarrhoea, fever and abdominal pain, and the diarrhoea may sometimes be bloody. Symptoms usually last from a few days to one week. Young children, older people and those with weakened immune systems are at greater risk of severe illness, which in serious cases may require hospitalisation.
