PRESS RELEASE BY THE MINISTRY FOR EUROPEAN FUNDS, SOCIAL DIALOGUE AND CONSUMER PROTECTION An investment of €20.5 million, with 225 projects approved to create more opportunities for people through European funds

The Government continues to strengthen its investment in people through European funds, with 225 projects approved under Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, benefiting more than 170 organisations, at the grant award ceremony organised by the European Union Programmes Agency (EUPA). This investment amounts to approximately €20.5 million.

These projects will create new opportunities for learning, training, volunteering and international cooperation, while strengthening the skills and capacity of beneficiary organisations.

During the ceremony, Minister for European Funds, Social Dialogue and Consumer Protection Keith Azzopardi Tanti emphasised that the record interest in these programmes reflects growing awareness of the opportunities they offer schools, educators, youth organisations, sports associations and voluntary organisations. “The true measure of success lies in the opportunities we create for people, and every euro must translate into new skills, stronger organisations and communities that move forward,” Minister Azzopardi Tanti emphasised. He concluded by stating that the Government remains committed to ensuring that more citizens benefit from these programmes.

EUPA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Raphael Scerri, encouraged those who have yet to participate to recognise that Erasmus+ is more than a funding programme: it is “an opportunity to open new doors to learning, build strong European partnerships and give our students the best possible preparation for the future.” Mr Scerri recalled that the next call would close in February 2027 and expressed his wish to see more organisations and schools participate in these programmes.

The ceremony highlighted the value of European cooperation in opening new doors for students, educators and communities. Through these projects, participants can gain international experience, exchange good practices and strengthen their participation in society.

Looking ahead to the European programmes for the 2028–2034 period, the Government will continue working to secure more opportunities for Malta in education, training, sport and volunteering. The aim remains to translate European funds into tangible benefits for people and a more inclusive society. This investment equips individuals with the tools to develop their potential and contribute more actively to the future of their communities and our country.
