Following a request by the Kamra Tal-Periti (KTP), the Planning Authority is proposing to extend the validity period of several development permits that had previously been excluded from benefitting from a similar incentive two years ago.
Under this proposal:
1. Development permits that expired between 1st January 2025 and the date of the coming into force of the Legal Notice. (both dates included) will now remain valid until 31st December 2028.
2. Development permits that expired between 1st January 2023 and 9th November 2023 (both dates included) will remain valid until 31st December 2026.
Additionally, this measure will enable the Planning Authority to better manage its resources and reduce the administrative workload associated with the processing of permit renewals. By streamlining operations, the Authority will be able to focus its efforts on addressing key planning regulatory and procedural issues that require attention.
Any permits that were revoked by the Court of Appeals are excluded from this extension.
The proposed amendment can be accessed on the Planning Authority’s website at www.pa.org.mt/consultation.
The Planning Authority invites the public to submit representations on the proposed amendments to the extension of the validity of development permits regulations.
Representations must be sent to the Authority by 27th February 2025.
