The Tourism Accommodation Regulations, 2025 consolidates and modernises Malta’s tourism accommodation framework. It replaces previous subsidiary legislations, introducing uniform licensing and compliance systems and updates the classification systems to address current market trends in the tourism accommodation sector including hotels, guest houses, hostels, and short-let rentals. They align with Malta’s National Tourism Strategy and EU standards, promote environmental sustainability through eco-certification, and strengthen enforcement and appeal procedures under the Malta Tourism Authority to ensure higher quality, safety, and consistency across the sector.
