The picturesque area of Għar Lapsi in Siġġiewi is a location that attracts thousands of Maltese and tourists who visit to see and enjoy this area, which offers breathtaking scenery. In addition, this area is also a source of livelihood for various sectors, including restaurant owners, fishermen, and other activities, among them recreational pursuits such as scuba diving.

In recent days, due to Storm Harry which struck our country, Għar Lapsi suffered extensive damage that completely altered both the visual appearance and the use of this area. Consequently, the Government, through the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Works, is committed to restoring the Għar Lapsi area and giving it back to the people and we want this to be done by the people, for the people.

It is for this reason that, the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works – through the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Works, is launching a public consultation focused exclusively on this area. We are therefore moving forward to listen to the public, so as to understand what people would like to see in the regeneration of Għar Lapsi.
