Background:
The National Financial Capability Strategy 2026–2031 sets out Malta’s long-term vision to strengthen financial capability and help people make informed financial decisions throughout life. It promotes a coordinated national approach involving Government, regulators, educators, employers, financial institutions and civil society.
As financial needs and challenges continue to evolve, the Strategy identifies key priorities to improve financial resilience, strengthen access to trusted information and support, and encourage collaboration across sectors.
The Ministry is launching this public consultation to gather feedback on the proposed Strategy. The views received will help shape the final Strategy and guide its implementation.
Consultation questions:
Do you agree that the vision and objectives of the National Financial Capability Strategy provide the right direction for improving financial capability in Malta?
Do the strategic priorities adequately address Malta’s main current and future financial capability needs?
Are the proposed measures sufficient to support lifelong financial education, improve access to trusted guidance and strengthen financial resilience across different population groups?
Are there any groups that require additional support?
What actions should be prioritised during implementation?
Are there any additional actions, comments or recommendations?
The general public is invited to submit feedback on the National Financial Capability Strategy 2026-2031 until the 15th of October 2026.
