Scientific coring works at Sikka l-Bajda
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that scientific coring works will take place at is-Sikka l-Bajda ‒ within Bunkering Area 1.
The coring operations will be carried out from Jack Up Sea Seven 7, which two (2) workboats will assist. The vessels will display appropriate lights and shapes in compliance with the requirements of the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea 1972 (COLREGS) as amended.
The coring operations, in this area, are scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 1st July, 2026, and, weather permitting, are estimated to be completed by Friday, 17th July, 2026.
Several cores will be lifted from within the area bounded by points A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I, as shown within the hatched area on the chart found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt).

Due to the above-mentioned works, navigation within the said areas will be restricted and entry will only be permitted following agreement and permission from the contractor on- site.
Masters and operators of vessels are advised to keep a sharp lookout, and navigate with caution and at slow speed when in the vicinity of the marked area.
They are to comply with instructions given by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) on VHF Channel 12.

Temporary shifting of pontoon ‒ Marsaxlokk
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, hereby notifies mariners and vessel owners of a temporary relocation of the pontoon due to ongoing dredging works in Marsaxlokk.
The pontoon, currently located at position A (coordinates below), will be shifted to position B (near the Dellimara Power Station):

Fireworks display (Chinese cakes) from the foreshore at Manoel Island
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies mariners that a 3-minute Chinese cakes fireworks display will be held from the foreshore at Manoel Island in Id-Dahla ta' Tas-Sliema on Sunday, 28th June, 2026, at 11.00 p.m. The display will be centred at point A as shown in the chart found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) in the approximate following position:

In view of the above, mariners are advised to keep 60 meters away from point A on the abovementioned date and time.
Any boats berthed within the area shown in the chart found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) are to be removed during the above-mentioned date and time.
Transport Malta will accept no liability whatsoever for any damage caused by the firework displays to any vessel and her ancillary equipment, whether such vessel and her ancillary equipment are left within the 60 meters safety zone, or outside such safety zone, from the point from which the fireworks are let off.
All mariners are to comply with any instructions given on VHF Channel 12 and/or 16, by Valletta VTS and by any enforcement personnel on-site.

Fireworks Display – Feast of Our Lady of Sacro Cuor – Tas-Sliema ‒ 2026
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies Mariners that firework displays will be let off in Id-Daħla ta' Tas-Sliema, Marsamxett Harbour.
Aerial fireworks will be let off from Manoel Island at points A and B, as shown on the chart found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt), on the following dates and times:
On Saturday, 4th July, 2026, from 10.00 p.m. to midnight.
On Sunday, 5th July, 2026, from 7.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
Ground fireworks will be let off from Ix-Xatt ta' Tas-Sliema along the line X to Y, as shown in the chart found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt), on the following dates and times:
On Saturday, 4th July, 2026, from 10.45 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. of Sunday, 5th July, 2026.

In view of the above, mariners are informed that navigation within 200 meters from points A and B, and 50 meters from points X and Y, at Marsamxett Harbour will be prohibited on the mentioned dates and times.
All craft moored within the indicated areas as shown in the chart found on the Transport Malta website (www.transport.gov.mt) are to be removed on the above-mentioned dates and times of the fireworks displays.
Transport Malta will accept no liability whatsoever for any damage caused by the firework displays to any vessel and her ancillary equipment, whether such vessel and her ancillary equipment are left within the safety zone, or outside such safety zone, from the point from which the fireworks are let off.

Notice to Mariners No. 38 of 2026
Live firing practice at Pembroke Ranges – 23rd, 24th and 26th June, 2026 ‒ Extended hours
The Ports and Yachting Directorate, Transport Malta, notifies that further to Notice to Mariners No. 24 of 2021, the Armed Forces of Malta will carry out live firing practice on Tuesday, 23rd June, 2026, with extended hours between 7.00 a.m. and 8.00 a.m. (local time), and on Wednesday, 24th and Friday, 26th June, 2026, with extended hours between 6.00 a.m. and 8.00 a.m. (local time).
A Sécurité message will be issued on VHF Channels 12, and/or 16 by Valletta VTS, accordingly.
The exercise area (LM-D6) is delineated by sector ABC.

Limits are indicated on BA charts 194, 2537 and 2538.
During the live firing practice, red flags (approximate size 2.5m x 2m), will be flown from the shore limits. After sunset, instead of the red flags, there will be red lights and there will be two safety vessels with blue lights on each side, to indicate the limits of the area. Mariners are warned to keep, as a minimum, 4 Nautical miles off the coast when the flags or safety vessels are sighted.
Moreover, any instructions given on VHF Channels 12 and/or 16 by Valletta Port Control (Valletta VTS) and by the Armed Forces of Malta, are to be strictly observed.
