Background
The Electricity Connection and Supply Regulations, ECSR, are the result of a review of Electricity Supply Regulations, S.L.545.01, and once published will replace those regulations. These regulations concern the connection of customers to the electricity distribution grid up to the electricity service meter. These regulations establish the following:
- terms and conditions for provision of electricity services of different rating including connection charges
- metering and billing
- electricity tariffs
The review of the Electricity Supply Regulations mainly concern the terms and conditions for provisions electricity services which are being updated to meet today’s customers electricity demand requirements including the connection of generators from renewable energy and the changing role of customers who only consume from the grid but also produce electricity and feed electricity into the grid. Clarify the type services offered by Enemalta and procedure to request such services. Connection fees are also being organised in one place for ease of reference and transparency.
No changes are being proposed concerning electricity consumption tariffs and annual fixed service charges.
This consultation seeks views of the public on the proposed regulations.
